Katherine Rubio Alcoran, 95, of Keaau died July 31 at home. Born in Paukaa, she was a retired equipment operator for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. Services held. Survived by daughters, Patricia (Clyde) Birnbaum of Austin, Texas, Kathleen (Michael) Jenness of Waimea and Dolores (Ned) Shimabukuro of Keaau; sons, Andrew (Penny) Alcoran of Laupahoehoe and Robert Alcoran of Kona; sisters, Anne Camacho and Dorothy Ah Sing of Hilo, Shirley Ann Cecconi of Tennessee, Rose Marie (Frank) Martinez of Honolulu; brother, Robert Luciano (Clara) Rubio of Maine; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Sally Toshiko Miyakaku, 99, of Hilo died July 30 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Papaikou, she worked in the family business, Maebo Noodle Factory, and was a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Buddhist Women’s Association. Services held.
